The Hilton Hotel next to the Pinhook bridge and Vermilion river will be getting a new look. The hotel has officially started the transition into a DoubleTree hotel. The hotel was recently purchased in a joint venture between Garrison Investment Group in New York and Wright Investment Properties in Tennessee. Both companies own a multitude of Marriott, Holiday Inn, and Hilton hotel chains. DoubleTree is part of the Hilton Hotel chain.

Renovations, which are scheduled to begin this month with significant upgrades set to begin late this summer, will include new bedding, wall coverings, and window treatments in the guest rooms. The lobby and hotel restaurant will be completely overhauled.

According to hotel general manager James Thackston, "we're looking forward to a more modern, upscale bar and restaurant [and] opening up the walls on the first floor to where it's more of welcoming feeling and [better] food service area."  The main goal of the name change and renovations is to attract more conferences and meetings to the hotel, and affirm the hotel's position as a premier conference/meeting venue and destination in Lafayette.
