Lafayette man arrested for distributing child pornography

The Louisiana Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit announced that a Lafayette man has been arrested and charged with distributing pornography involving juveniles.

Wayne Weilbacher, 51, was arrested today as part of a joint investigation involving the Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Weilbacher was booked into the Lafayette Parish Prison without incident. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has earned a solid reputation for vigorously monitoring, arresting, and prosecuting online child predators. The Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes which have victimized children as young as infants to as old as 17 years of age.
