A Lafayette man is accused of drilling screws into his bathroom door to trap his girlfriend inside. When deputies arrived at the home to investigate the complaint, they discovered products used in the production of methamphetamines.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at roughly 7:00 a.m. We’re told Brindle Donaldson, 34, trapped his former girlfriend in the bathroom when she returned to the apartment to collect her things.

Officials say the victim attempted to negotiate with her former boyfriend, but she eventually used her cell phone to call for help.

When deputies arrived on scene they observed evidence in the home of methamphetamine production. The Lafayette Parish Metro Narcotics Task Force took over the investigation at this point.

Donaldson was arrested by deputies for one count of False Imprisonment and for active bench warrants for Failure to Appear in Court for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Seatbelt, Driving Under Suspension, and Switched License Plate.

Officials say Donaldson will likely face additional charges from the Metro Narcotics investigation.
