Lafayette Police searching for 3 black male suspects related to early Sunday morning shooting

Shooting occurred at local St. Francis Motel

Lafayette Police responding to another violent shooting taking place at the local St. Francis Motel around 12:30 am Sunday morning.  Lafayette Police responded to the St. Francis Motel regarding a shooting.  A 46 year old male from California was located lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot woulnds.  The victim and a female were inside of a room allegedly using illegal drugs when three black males approached the door.  The victim opened the door to the room, at which time one of the suspects opened fire with a handgun, striking the victim four times.  The suspects fled the area and police are still searching.

"Well we have very little, limited information based off of what was told to us by the witnesses at the scene and the victim himself.  We're still trying to make a determination first of all, can we identify any of the three black males that went to the hotel room that night and who is the actual shooter," says Corporal Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries.  He is listed in stable condition.  Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
