Lafayette Police seek Thanksgiving Day murder suspect

Police are looking for a murder suspect, Wilmar Fernandez Ramirez, 30, of Lafayette.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, Lafayette Police responded to reports about a shooting in an apartment complex in the 3600 block of West Congress Street.

When deputies entered the building, they discovered the 41-year-old male victim lying in the hallway, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses say the victim was involved in an altercation when the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect fled the apartment.

Detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Ramirez on 2nd Degree Murder charges.
