Lafayette Sheriff's Office is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating Damon Journet who fled while participating in a Community Corrections Rehab Program while on a job-site in Scott, Louisiana. Journet was incarcerated for burglary back in October of 2013 and entered the rehab program in earlier this year.

Captain Craig Stansbury says while inmates who participate in this rehab programs are non-violent crime offenders, it is still very important to get Journet back into the Lafayette Sheriff's custody.

"These individuals that participate in these programs are non-violent. Most of the times they are on the end of their sentence or actually have to qualify to participate in these programs. Unfortunately on that particular day, the 11th of July, he was at his job site and he waled off from his job site." said Stansbury.

"Right now we have been in the process of locating him. We have been unsuccessful at this time so we have reached out to the public to see if anybody might be able to help us or give us some information on locating him."

Anyone with information on Damon Journet's location is encouraged to call the Lafayette Sheriff's Office at 232-9211 or if you would like to remain anonymous you can call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
