Last night proved to be a dangerous and deadly night in Acadiana

Two deaths in two separate vehicular incidents

Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 4:58pm

The two incidents last night claimed the lives of seven year old Kendessa Castile of Church Point who was struck by two trucks while crossing US Highway 190, and unrestrained driver Troy Sarver of Rayne who overcorrected and overturned into a ditch on LA Highway 342.

"When operating a vehicle you can't be in a hurry.  You have to be aware of what's going on, you can't be distracted with cell phones or with the radio.  The whole purpose while operating a vehicle safely is to wear your seat belt and to pay attention while your driving, drive defensively.  Watch what other drivers are doing, watch what pedestrians are doing, pay attention to what's going on so you can avoid or defensively take action to avoid a crash," says Corporal Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police.

Both incidents that occurred last night are still under investigation and awaiting toxicology reports.
