Law enforcement catches alleged Shreveport rapist

A Shreveport man accused of rape is now in police custody following his arrest Sunday afternoon.

The alleged rapist, Matthew Buckingham, of Shreveport, was taken into custody outside a convenience store on Pines Road near Jefferson Paige Road after authorities spotted him. Buckingham was wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault that happened on or around August 6.

A warrant charging Buckingham with one count of simple raped had been issued just two days prior to his arrest.

Buckingham was booked into the Shreveport City Jail and charged with rape. His bond is set at 100,000.
