SLCC received $10,000 for Pay it Forward scholarship
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Local attorney Glenn Armentor made an exciting announcement today at SLCC. SLCC held a press conference today so that Armentor could announce a $10,000 scholarship at SLCC as part of his "pay it forward" program. SLCC Chancellor Dr. Natalie Harder accepted the scholarship along with members of the Student Government Association. The pay it forward program is in memory and appreciation for those who helped Armentor arise from poverty and cultivate one of the state's most successful law firms.
"I'm a very good lawyer, but this is my best work. Taking care of at-risk kids and making sure they get degrees, making sure they get the education they need, it's the most satisfying thing I've ever been around. I monitor what they do, I'll go to the graduations and they have to sit and promise me that they're going to pay it forward too," says Armentor.
The scholarship is based on a combination of attributes such as student performance, drive, ability, financial need, and desire to seek a college degree and more. Four pay it forward scholarships have been received at the University of Loiuisiana at Lafayette, which makes today the first time Armentor has extended the pay it forward scholarship to SLCC.
