Knezek running against current board President Hunter Beasley
LAFAYETE (KADN) — It's no secret there's a lot of tension between the Lafayette Parish school board and the superintendent, and with board elections coming up in November some people are looking for change. So much so, they've decided to run. Today local business owner and Naval veteran Erick Knezek officially announced he'll be running to represent District 8. That's where his kids go to school, and he also was in the school system which is why he thinks he can be the change that he says the current school board desperately needs.
"I think we need leadership. I think we need to re-focus on the things that are important. There are two things that are important as far as I'm concerned in the schools, it's the students and the teachers, everything else is a distraction. Every other issue that comes up is a distraction. If we're not focused on the students and the teachers, we're not doing our job," says Erick Knezek, CEO of Truston Companies and candidate for school board member District 8.
