Staying healthy during the holidays makes it easier to get back into the groove of things later
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — Staying healthy during the holidays isn't easy. From cookies to candy, rich food and cocktails temptation is everywhere, but dieticians say don't give in! There are healthy options for all those traditional holiday treats.
"I know everybody says well it's Christmas I'm going to eat what I want and then I'll get back on track on New Years, but the further you get off track on Christmas the harder it's going to be to get back on track during New Years," says Valerie Durant and Sarah Heming, registered dieticians at Sandra's Cafe and Health Food Store.
Here's another tip for staying healthy. If you need to satisfy that sweet tooth instead of sugar, use honey or coconut sugar. You can also snack on nuts. Make sure you drink a lot of water too, and eat your proteins first.
