The University of Lafayette administration is facing budget cuts once again. Officials say this will be the universities fifth budget cut in the last three years.

On Tuesday at approximately 9:50 am, a Lafayette Police Officer was flagged down in a parking lot in the 1800 block of the NE Evangeline Thruway regarding a male victim with a gunshot wound.

UPDATE: Suspect arrested in homicide

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested Kenneth Batiste (25) of Lafayette and charged him with 1st Degree Murder. Information and evidence indicates that the motive for the shooting is believed to be drug related.
