A LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s deputy was arrested for forcible rape and battery.

The Louisiana State Police completed the investigation at the request of the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint that Deputy Clarence Breland, Jr. had committed rape and battery. The Sheriff’s Office then contacted the Louisiana State Police and requested a formal investigation.

Detectives conducted interviews and gathered forensic evidence. They established enough probable cause to place him under arrest.

Breland was taken into custody on Thursday, Sept. 26. He was booked into the LaSalle Parish Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Officials have not released any additional details regarding the investigation.
