LSU Board Of Supervisors approves $151 million in cuts
The LSU Board Of Supervisors approved $151 million in cuts, including nearly 1,500 people that will be laid off and out of a job at the seven public hospitals in the state while here in Lafayette, 22.4 million will be cut from the operating budget and 173 of the UMC personel will be out of a job at the Lafayette hospital.
One state legislator feels these cuts are not only wrong but could be illegal to do them. Democratic State Representative Stephen Ortego says this is not right.
There is a letter of intent to look at a possible partnership with UMC and Lafayette General Medical Center.
