Man accused of killing wife arrested in St. Martin Parish

A man who allegedly shot his wife after a verbal altercation is behind bars.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Richard Lagarrigue, 27, shot and killed his wife at their residence on Prevost Lane in Loranger.

It is believed that during an argument with the victim, Richard Lagarrigue armed himself with a handgun, fired one shot at the victim, resulting in her death.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Lagarrigue was apprehended and taken into custody by the Henderson Police Department in St. Martin Parish during a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Lagarrigue was later transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and charged with Second-Degree Murder.

This case is ongoing.
