Man robs business, crashes mother's car while fleeing scene
Lafayette, La — A Calcasieu Parish man was arrested on robbery charges after fleeing the scene and crashing the getaway car, who happened to be his mother's vehicle.
On May 7 at around 8:20 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to and armed robbery call in the 2200 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
David B. Parker, 25, of Lake Charles, entered a business wearing a mask and armed with a handgun and demanded money. Parker then fled the business by driving away in his mother's vehicle.
While fleeing the scene of the crime, Parker crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Dulles and Domingue Road.
Afterward, he ran north into a pasture towards Ole Colony Road. Parker was later located near the intersection of Westgate and Ole Colony Road and taken into custody without incident.
The employee received minor injuries during the robbery, and police were able to recover the weapon.
Parker was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with Armed Robbery.
