A man was arrested after detectives found illegal drugs, a firearm and stolen items in his home. We’re told a 3-year-old child was in the home with him at the time the warrant was executed.

The St. Mary Sheriff’s Office reports that the arrest was made in the early morning on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Officials say the search warrant was issued after a joint investigation conducted by the Narcotics and Detectives division was launched due to allegations of illegal drug activity and possible connection to several home burglaries.

During the search officials say they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm that were all in the presence of the child. The home was also located near a church, which is a violation of the Drug Free Zone law.

Detectives also retrieved several items that they believe to be stolen during home burglaries. They include 3 flat screen televisions, X-Box video games, and DVDs. They are currently working to return the stolen items to the rightful owners and request the public to contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 828-1960 if you think you can identify the items.
