BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A LSU soccer standout whose hopes of lettering in another sport this coming season, ended today.
Mo Isom, the starting goalkeeper for the LSU Women's Soccer Team the past 4 years, failed in her bid to join the LSU Football roster as a place-kicker today.
The 2011 homecoming queen had tried out in the spring for the team and didn't make the roster, but coach Les Miles encouraged her to try again in the fall giving her time to improve.
She tweeted the news today:
"I am heartbroken, but my head is held high. Knowing I gave everything I had is the greatest victory. Unending thanks to my LSU Football fam." @moisom
Mo did however make it to the last day of tryouts.
In a series of YouTube videos made to encourage students to come out to soccer games, Mo takes on LSU punter Brad Wing, and does rather well.
A fun fact - as the Tigers' goalie in 2008, Mo nailed a free kick from her team's end, into Brigham Young's net 90 yards away in her freshman season.
After her initial tweet saying she did not make it, she went on to praise the people who helped her, and said how she can’t wait to cheer for the football team.
