Police have arrested a man who they believe to be responsible for stabbing a man to death and dumping his body in an oil field.

The decomposed body of Tomas Mendoza, 31, was discovered by a juvenile in Acadia Parish on Thursday, May 30. The body, which was so bad that neither race nor age could be determined, was transported from Robert’s Cove to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.

A coroner’s report shows that Mendoza had multiple stab wounds, including a large cut across the throat.

Investigators were able to link Henry Roberto Dubon of Crowley to the murder. Officials believe he robbed Mendoza, killed him, then left his body in the field.

Dubon was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail where he is being held without bond.

Dubon was also charged with Aggravated Assault for an unrelated incident.
