NEW IBERIA, LA — A narcotics investigation came to an end after the suspect crashed his car attempting to avoid deputies. Investigators recovered roughly $60,000 worth of illegal narcotics from his vehicle.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that agents had been investigating Chris Pellerin, 33, for possibly selling and possessing narcotics. Agents believed he had the drugs in his vehicle, so they attempted a traffic stop.
Officials say Pellerin refused to pull his vehicle over and attempted to outrun deputies. He allegedly drove at a high rate of speed and attempted to throw narcotics out of his window.
Eventually, Pellerin crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Lewis Street in New Iberia. He was taken into custody and a search of his home was conducted.
In Pellerin’s home, agents reportedly recovered 3/4 gallon of promethezine, 913 grams of high grade marijuana, 47 grams of crystal meth, 11 grams of cocaine, 78 dosage units of ecstasy, 49 oxycontin pills, 15 xanax pills, 29 hydrocodone pills and 3 somas. Agents placed the street value of the drugs at over $60,000.
Pellerin was charged with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cchedule I, II, III and IV narcotics (second offense).
During the investigation agents also arrested Brandi Romero for Illegal Possession of Schedule I Narcotics and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule III Narcotics.
Both Pellerin and Romero were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
