Tuesday, September 25, 2012 - 7:49pm

There is new information tonight out of Assumption Parish regarding the giant sink hole and bubbles in the Bayou Corne area of the Parish
The sinkhole has grown to nearly 500 feet wide in some places and reports of the mysterious bubbles are showing up throughout area waterways.
The first reports started coming in nearly four months ago.

Not long after reports were made officials reliazed a damaged brine cavern was to blame for the sinkhole
Texas Brine Company the owners of that brine cavern took responsibility for the problems
until now.
Now the company says it was seismic activity or earthquakes that actually damaged the brine cavern.
company officials say they found new debris in the cavern.

They have not investigated the cavern's depth since last year
but they say, it's at least 1300 feet more shallow now.
and Texas Brine officials says that is just based on their iniitial observation.

Texas Brine officials are waiting on more test results to come in.
in the meantime
There are new bubbling sites in surrounding waterways and officials are still monitoring the sink hole.
