New law aimed at protecting children goes into use
In florida a new law aimed at protecting children went into effect today.
"Caylee's Law" is named after two year old Caylee Anthony.
Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder in death of her daughter, who was missing 31 days before it was reported to police.
Casey was convicted of four counts of lying to investigators and received the maximum sentence of four years.
The new law increases the maximum penalty from a one year jail sentence to five years for knowingly making a false statement to police about a missing child.
If the new law had been in effect, Casey Anthony could have received up to 20 years in prison.
