New LSU President talks financial problems, unifying all campuses
BATON ROUGE, LA — Freshmen aren't the only ones learning about life at LSU – the new president of the school is as well.
F. King Alexander met with a group of incoming freshmen during their orientation session today.
This is Alexander's first week on the job, after being hired away from Long Beach State.
He said that the financial problems facing LSU are very similar to what he dealt with back in California.
“We've gone through that (financial problems) as well. Five years without any pay raises,” stated King. “What’s going on in Louisiana is not uncommon to what the nation has faced in probably 90 percent of the states that are out there."
Alexander said one of his first goals as president is to visit all 10 of LSU’s campuses. He's in charge of the plan to bring each of them under common leadership.
