OPELOUSAS, LA — An Opelousas man was arrested after he allegedly admitted to downloading child pornography.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Steven Michael O’reilly, 26, was arrested for ten counts of Possession of Child Pornography Involving Juveniles.
We’re told the ongoing investigation concluded with a search of O’reilly’s home. Electronic forensics located the videos on his computer.
“O’reilly did admit to downloading and viewing the child pornography,” Sheriff Bobby Guidroz added. “This arrest is one of the many from our Cyber Crimes Unit Detectives. These detectives target predators who are seeking to exploit and victimize children through the use of computers and the internet. The Cyber Crimes Detectives are highly trained in the collection, preservation, and analysis of computers and digital evidence.”
O’reilly is currently being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail with no bond.
