July 7, 2014 — With the long July 4th weekend having come to an end, it was a solid time of fun as well as a time to reflect on our country's history. On Saturday, a large crowd at Cajun Harley Davidson came out in force to honor America's armed forces, past, present and fallen. It was the Patriot Flag tour, an American Flag that started back on Memorial Day making a total of 104 stops at 48 states carried by motor cyclist enthusiast. The honored flag bearer was Rick Landry who passed along the flag from Lafayette up to Alexandria.
"I was lucky enough to be Pre-Vietnam, but like my brother and so many others. In Vietnam, really suffered and didn't get the welcoming. And there is a whole new movement trying to give these guys a welcoming home, because a lot of them are still suffering physically, mentally, emotionally. So this is just a thank you and give a whole new awareness to the people that served." said Rick Landry.
The flag will finish it's long journey in California on Labor Day. Donations from this annual July 4th weekend event in Lafayette all go to the local Acadiana Wounded Warrior families.
