Police are trying to figure out why a pig head was placed on the hood of a rental vehicle that was located in the parking lot of the Lafayette Regional Airport.

Officials say the incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 8 at roughly 6:00 p.m. Police responded after a deputy working extra-duty reported seeing a pig’s head on the hood of a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found the animal’s head on top of a 2006 Chevrolet. The vehicle was located in the short term parking area.

Investigators discovered the vehicle was registered to a rental company, but they have been unable to locate the person who rented the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
