Farmers market at horse farm proving beneficial to the community of Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — A huge crowd of an estimated 5,000 people turned out for Plant Fest 2013 and farmers market this past Saturday at the horse farm. The farmers market every Saturday has around sixty vendors, but this past Saturday over 150 vendors were there, making Mayor Joey Durel extremely happy with the horse farm that has been so near and dear to his heart.
"You're here because you want to be here. It is a great atmosphere, and to see the artists and the creative people what they can put together, and the entreprenuers," says Mayor Joey Durel, Lafayette Consolidated Government.
From local authors to one student at UL selling pecans at the farmers market every weekend, and now able to pay for his tuition at UL, the farmers market and plant fest has proven to be a great addition for Lafayette and the residents around the area.
