Police arrest Scott man for beating wheelchair-bound girlfriend

A Scott man has been arrested for assaulting his wheelchair-bound girlfriend.

On Wednesay, Dec. 4, Gary Squires, 38, and his girlfriend got into a verbal altercation that turned physical at a residence located in the 100 block of Des Jacques Road. Squires fled the scene before police arrived.

Later that morning, deputies learned that Mr. Squires was at the pizza place where he works. Officers located him and took him in for questioning.

Squires admitted to hitting his girlfriend 15-20 times. He said they that they were both intoxicated, and that he tried to defend himself from her attack. Squires had suffered an injury on his right hand.

His girlfriend suffered a broken rib and a fractured eye socet along with various bruises on her face.

Squires also supplied a written statement that corresponded to his verbal confession. After the investigation, Squires was arrested for Second Degree Battery (Domestic Violence).
