Police arrest woman for stealing from elderly

A woman has been arrested for taking several thousand dollars from an elderly person.

According to the Crowley Police Department, Cynthia Gauthreaux (51) was a caring for an elderly person and she allegedly tricked them into releasing the funds to her.

Crowley Police say the arrested Gauthreaux for Felony Theft and Crimes Against the Elderly, and booked her into the Acadia Parish Jail.

KP Gibson, Chief of Crowley Police, explained that the charge of Crimes Against the Elderly is defined as, “taking advantage of a person who is elderly where another crime has occurred. In this case, the funds which were taken have been deemed to be a felony theft.”
