For years Police Chief Perry Gallow has been protecting the city of Opelousas.

"I have a passion for policing, I have a passion for Opelousas and I just think that we're going in the right direction," says Chief Perry Gallow, chief of police for the city of Opelousas.

A direction he wants to be a part of which is why he's decided to run for a third term.

"I understand what law enforcement means to residents of the city, and how important it is to maintain a level of confidence so that the public has the trust that we will do the right thing for the right reasons," says Chief Gallow.

After three homicides in Opelousas in January alone, all drug related, Chief Gallow and the Opelousas Police Department have been cracking down.

"We've always been aggressive in regards to drugs, but we've stepped it up even more by putting officers specifically assigned to street corner drug dealings and the affects of it," says the chief.
