UPDATE: Man arrested for East Foch Street shooting

UPDATE: A Lafayette man wanted for second degree murder is now in jail.

Investigators arrested Darrell Shelvin, 23, in the 1000 block of St. Charles Street, on August 5, 2014.

Paul Mouton, a Lafayette Police spokesperson, says Shelvin’s arrest was possible because of a crime stoppers tip officers received around 12:30 p.m.

Shelvin was booked into jail on the charge of second degree murder.

ORIGINAL (July 28, 2014): Lafayette Police are looking for Darrell Shelvin, 23, for allegedly shooting and killing a man on East Foch Street, early this morning.

Lafayette Police spokesperson Cpl Paul Mouton says his department has obtained a warrant for Shelvin’s arrest.

Investigators say Shelvin got into an argument with a man and shot him once in the stomach. The man, 37, later died at a local hospital.

Shelvin escaped before officers arrived on scene.
