POW’s remains returned to Louisiana 63 years after death in Korea
BATON ROUGE, LA — Sgt. Clement Thibodeaux, Jr., went missing 63 years ago in Korea. Today, his remains were brought home to the Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.
On November 27, 1950, Thibodeaux’s unit reached Yongsan-dong and established defensive positions. They were attacked that night from all sides. Although most of the unit made it out successfully, Thibodeaux was taken as a prisoner (POW).
In 1951, all the remaining POW’s were exchanged, but it was reported that Thibodeaux died in a holding camp from pneumonia.
Today, Friday, July 26, his remains were returned to Louisiana by the Patriot Guard. They were escorted to Baton Rouge, but his final resting place will be in Church Point, La.
