Pregnant woman loses child after hit and run in Carencro

The Carencro City Police Department has arrested one suspect in connection with a hit and run that happened on Saturday, Dec. 14

Officers responded to the 300 block of West Gloria Switch Road at about 9:45 p.m. Upon arriving, they learned that a two-vehicle crash had recently occurred.

According to reports, one of the cars, which did not have on headlights, struck the second vehicle

The driver operating the car without headlights fled the scene on foot after the crash.

Investigators also learned that one of the victims in the crash was six months pregnant and later lost her child due to the trauma and complications suffered in the wreck.

On Monday, Dec. 16, Officers located the suspect, Luis Alfredo, 26, and arrested him for the hit and run.

Upon review by the Lafayette District Attorney’s Office, additional charges could possibly follow for the death of the unborn child.
