OPELOUSAS, LA — In the late afternoon hours on Wednesday, Aug. 8, the Opelousas Police Department responded to two separate incidents involving complaints of fire set in the men’s restroom of two local businesses.
After viewing video surveillance at both businesses, Opelousas Police arrested and charged Brandon P. Lavergne, 20, with two counts of Aggravated Arson.
Video surveillance provided police with footage showing Brandon P. Lavergne enter the restroom of one business and approximately three to four minutes later, exit the restroom. In a second incident, video surveillance was also obtained and compaired showing that the same subject, Brandon P. Lavergne, was also responsible for that fire.
Brandon P. Lavergne was identified and located at his residence in Opelousas where he was then transported to the Opelousas Police Department for questioning. Brandon P. Lavergne is presently being held without bond on two counts of Aggravated Arson.
