Resident kills armed home invader, second suspect escapes

A resident in Lafayette shot and killed a home invader. Police are currently looking for a second suspect who managed to escape.

The Lafayette Police Department reports that two masked gunmen broke into the home on Paradise Street shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5. Once inside, the resident of the home pulled out a gun and began shooting at the suspects, who also fired off shots.

One suspect was fatally wounded in the entrance of the home. His identity is unknown at this time. The second suspect got away and was seen getting into a light colored 4-door vehicle.

None of the occupants in the home were injured.

Investigators have not yet determined the motive for the shooting.
