Scott Police: drunk driver flips car upside-down

The Scott Police Department arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated and careless operation involving a crash.

Police arrived to the intersection of JB Road and Fenetre Road around 8 p.m. on January 3. Officers spotted a vehicle that was upside down in a field, north of the intersection.

Officers gave the driver, Gretchen Babineaux, a field sobriety test after they detected alcohol on her breath. Babineaux was deemed intoxicated after she failed the sobriety test.

Babineaux was given an alcohol breathalyzer test at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was transported to the University Hospital, for a medical clearance for incarceration, after the breathalyzer test revealed her blood alcohol content level was 0.125g%.

Babineaux was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of Operating a
