Shooting leaves one dead, one in critical condition

 The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office received calls for service on Durbin Road Extension in reference to gun shots in the street and vehicles speeding away on July 30 at around 5:30 p.m.

When they arrived, deputies found a victim, Jarvis Mabry, 23, in the roadway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. Mabry was conscious and alert and taken by Acadian to hospital where he is in critical condition.

They also discovered a second gunshot victim, Larry Smith, 20. Smith was unresponsive and bystanders were performing CPR on him. Smith died on the scene of a gunshot to the head.

Detectives have identified Brandon M. Francois, 18, of Hammond as their main suspect.

The investigation is still ongoing; however, warrants have been issued for Second-Degree Murder and Attempted Second-Degree Murder for Francois's arrest.
