Shooting in Verdunville leaves man in hospital
ST. MARY PARISH (KADN) — One man is in the hospital after an apparent shooting in Verdunville.
Gun shots were reported near Verdun Lane in Verdunville around 7:30 p.m. on June, 26, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Traci Landry.
Landry said responding deputies and state troopers spotted a vehicle speeding away from the area.
Deputies followed in pursuit of the vehicle and were eventually able to stop the driver near the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin.
While searching the vehicle, Landry said deputies found a male passenger who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The passenger was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the shooting.
