The man accused of killing Mickey Shunick and Lisa Pate has pled guilty.
Brandon Scott Lavergne entered a guilty plea for both murders.
Now he faces two life sentences without parole.
The Lafayette District Attorney's office presented strong evidence against Lavergne and released the details of what they believe happened in the murders of Lisa Pate in 1999 and Mickey Shunick in May.
As the narratives were read today in court, it became clear that Shunick fought fiercely for her life stabbing Lavergne several times.
Friends and family say it's no surprise she fought with every thing she had.
The Assistant District Attorney would not comment this time on whether or not Lavergne could face charges in any other cases.
