BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A six year old boy was accidentally shot in the face last night after his 12 year old brother was playing with a gun.
The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to the home on Victoria Garden Ct. at around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21. When they arrived they discovered that the 12 year old had found the gun in the hall closet. At some point the boy accidentally shot his younger brother.
“The parents had left the house to get something to eat,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, Baton Rouge Police Department, said. “It wasn’t for an extended period of time. They had the gun in a location that was away from the kids. There was no negligence on the part of the parents.”
The 6 year old was transported to a local hospital. We’re told that he’s expected to survive.
The 12 year old was arrested and released to his parents. He is being charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon and Negligent Injury.
