SLPSO arrests final suspect in fall 2013 robbery case
ST LANDRY PARISH (KADN) — The final suspect has been arrested in string of robberies from fall 2013.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested 22-year-old Justin Babineaux after receiving an anonymous tip. Babineaux is the third suspect involved in a string of robberies that happened between September and October of 2013.
Two other suspects Lee Convington and Mickail Lowell Gould were charged back in October and November of 2013, according to SLPSO spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena.
Babineaux, Convington, and Mckail were allegedly involved in thefts and burglaries in Arnaudville, Leonville, and Port Barre. Captain Vizena says the three suspects stole several four-wheelers, dirt bikes, lawn mowers, and other “various outdoor equipment.” All of the stolen items were valued over $20,000.
Spokesperson Captain Vizena also said that most of the stolen items have been recovered, and that detectives are working to return all of the items to their rightful owners.
Babineaux has been charged with six counts of felony theft (valued at &19,875.00) and theft under $500.
