While the eyes of the world were watching the soccer World Cup....The eyes of Acadiana were also very much tuned in! For yesteday's match with Belguim, the various locations through out Acadiana were packed with excited fans...Including the Jefferson Street Pub in Lafayette. Sadly the U.S. Lost the match 2 to 1 and were knocked out of World Cup competition but not before gaining more interest and respect for the game of soccer while opening up even more roads here in acadiana for players young and old! The interest has been huge!

Aaron Cline of LYSA said, " It's funny to see moms and dads, my dad was one of them growing up who knew nothing about soccer until their kids started playing. And then you start to grow fans like that. You know I think just the fact the it was the US national team obviously brought a little interest. The group of death tag made it that much more interesting for people and for us to get out of that group, really I think thats when you saw that swell of interest. Especially heading into yesterday's game."

From the big stage of the World Cup to our area....The Lafayette Youth Soccer Association is the largest soccer group in the Acadiana region and currently offers a place for approximately 3,500 kids and adults to play annually....For more info on playing soccer ...Go to the web: www.lysasoccer.com
