LOUISIANA — Governor Jindal has declared a State of Emergency to help provide resources for those areas impacted by severe weather.
Six additional parishes have also declared a State of Emergency. They include Acadia, Avoyelles, Concordia, East Carroll, Evangeline, Livingston and St. Landry Parish.
The declaration allows for funds and additional resources to assist residents impacted by severe weather. It allows for the implementation of flood protection measures and ongoing flooding related needs.
Voluntary evacuations were issued in the Crowley area due to high-water flooding. Confirmed tornado touchdowns occurred in St. Martin Parish as well in Iberville Parish.
Although the worst of the storm is over, forecasters expect another round of storms to hit south Louisiana on Saturday, Jan. 12. River levels are extremely high, which could cause additional flooding over the weekend.
