As first responders and public service agencies prepare statewide for the beginning of the 2014 hurricane season, State Police is urging the community to be prepared, plan ahead, and have a game plan in place before the arrival of a potentially dangerous storm.  Know the difference between a watch and a warning, and before a storm assemble an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, etc.  Police say to prepare personal evacuation plans and protect your home and valuables in advance from strong winds and hurricane conditions.  The hurricane season outlook has forecasted a near normal or below-normal season this year, predicting eight to thirteen named storms becoming potential hurricanes.
