An elementary student was found in the possession of a small pocket knife this morning, Lafayette Police report.

We’re told the Lafayette Police Department was contacted by the school principal at Alice Boucher Elementary on Wednesday, Jan. 30. The principal had been informed that a threat had been made the day prior that a student planned to bring a knife on campus.

Officers secured the fourth and fifth grade wing of the school this morning and located the student who was in possession of a small, two inch blade pocket knife. Officers then conducted a search of the school and did not recover any other weapons.

The child was turned over to his parents and the Police do not plan to take any action. School officials, however, will take responsibility for disciplinary action.
