"In about six months we built an entire car from scratch," says Clint Manuel, ULLEC team member.

An idea one team member saw online while looking for a senior project.  The team accepted the challenge, and got to work.

"It's a very light weight and efficient car that is almost street legal.  It's an urban concept gasoline car," says Clint.

So what makes this car so special?  Only that it gets 375 miles to the gallon!  Something the team members were so proud of they entered the Eco Marathon Competition in Houston where they placed 3rd in their division.  They also won the Design Award and the Communications Award.

"All in all, it was a great experience.  Everybody had their hands in in different ways," says Brocke Marretta, ULLEC team member.

And the students were able to walk away with more than just trophies.

"It gave us a good insight in what future jobs will entail," says Brocke.

The rest of the team members say that being the first year UL competed, they feel the whole team achieved great success.
