ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — The suspect in a shooting at a FedEx facility in suburban Atlanta early Tuesday has died "from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," police said. Six people were wounded in the shootings, officials said.
"The situation is now stabilized and we are focused on the needs of our team members and cooperating with the law enforcement investigation of this tragedy," FedEx spokesman Scott Fielder told CNN.
The six victims were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where at least one person was undergoing surgery, hospital spokesman Tyler Pearson said.
One person was in critical condition, police said.
Officers were sweeping the area about 25 miles northwest of Atlanta to ensure that there were no additional threats, Cobb County Police Public Information Officer Mike Bowman said.
A caller alerted police to the shooting at 5:54 a.m. at the facility in Kennesaw, Bowman said.
