SWAT team locates murder suspect hiding in attic of New Iberia home

A SWAT team was called out this weekend to locate a murder suspect who barricaded himself in the attic of a home.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident happened on Friday, Dec. 7. We’re told officials were tipped off that Jamarcus Delcambre, a wanted suspect for first-degree murder, was located in a home located on Providence Street in New Iberia.

Deputies and a SWAT team conducted a search of the home and located Delcambre hiding in the attic of the home. He was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for First-Degree Murder where he’s being held without bond.

Also arrested was Darla Eaglin for assisting Delcambre in his attempt to evade arrest. She was charged with Accessory After the Fact to First-Degree Murder. She was also booked in the Iberia Parish Jail.
