SHREVEPORT, LA — Police detectives have arrested a teenager in connection with the stabbing of his stepdad last weekend in west Shreveport.
At around 12:04 a.m., Shreveport police were called to the emergency room at a local hospital to reports of a patient who had several stab wounds. Upon arrival, they found Roger Carpenter, 31, suffering from three minor stab wounds to the left side of his body.
Investigators learned Carpenter had been attacked by his stepson, Dewen Kight, 17, at the victim’s house in the 8800 block of Bernay Drive. During the incident, Kight allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed Carpenter before leaving the scene. Carpenter was then taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kight surrendered himself to authorities at the Shreveport Police Complex and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of aggravated battery.
