Teenager a stabbing 'victim'; uses incident to lure grandfather away from home to burglarize it

Two men and a juvenile have been arrested in conjunction with a New Iberia burglary.

On March 27, deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 400 Block of Birch Street in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies detained two suspects, Destin Delahoussaye, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile. Both suspects were interviewed by detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. A third suspect, Zachary Brown, 17, was treated at a local hospital for a stab wound.

Detectives learned that the three suspects plotted to steal a safe located at the residence on Birch Street. Detectives also learned that the residence belonged to the grandfather of Brown.

Brown was stabbed in the arm by the 16-year-old, then Brown told his grandfather he was attacked and stabbed in order to lure his grandfather away from the residence while the other two suspects broke into the residence and stole the safe.

Detectives located the safe and arrested all three suspects.

Brown, and Delahoussaye were charged with simple burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The 16-year-old male was charged with simple burglary.
